Stephanie Teng is a Hong Kong based photographer and artist.
Since 2015, she has worked with commercial and editorial clients such as The New York Times, Monocle, Condé Nast Traveler, Vice Asia, GQ Japan, Madame Figaro Japan and Hong Kong, Lane Crawford, Swire, Cathay Pacific, Sino, Design Anthology, Hublot and more.
In her fine art work, her creative vision is shaped by her passion for creating compelling visual narratives that explore the human condition. With a background in Psychology - she often combines her fascination with the human psyche and the art of observation in order to transform photography into a form of therapy and empowerment. She also often pairs her images with poetry, inspiring imagination through different mediums.
Her work has been exhibited at The Mills, Eaton Hong Kong, Loft 22 by local art collective Bamboo Scenes, Shabibi Workshop hosted by Scentory HK, The Hive Studios, WeWork and Locofama; and featured on iWeigh, The Culturist, PhotogStory, Ariana Life, Shado Mag, Madame Figaro HK and more.
Outside of her commercial endeavors, she also engages in a lot of community education. She has designed and taught workshops for migrant workers for Lensational (a social enterprise that empowers women through photography) and Caritas Hong Kong; She was invited as a guest lecturer for Hong Kong University’s M.A. course in Fundamentals of Art Therapy in March 2020; a guest speaker at City University School of Creative Media in November 2018 and Creative Mornings; She was also invited to lead two photography workshops for Today At Apple and was the first presenter for the Made By Women series for International Women’s Month. She is also a recent graduate of a social justice fellowship program by Resolve Foundation.
